Meet Our Orthodontist: Dr. Peter Luu


Dr. Peter Luu

Dr. Luu was born in Vietnam and moved to Vancouver when he was 8 years old. Growing up in Vancouver, Dr. Luu attended Simon Fraser University for his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree. Upon leaving Simon Fraser University, he completed his dental degree at the University of British Columbia and continued his education with another year of general practice residency at BC Children’s Hospital. There he gained valuable and rewarding experience treating medically compromised children who were referred from all over BC. Dr. Luu practiced general dentistry for 4 years in the Lower Mainland and was a part time clinical faculty at UBC teaching pediatric dentistry.

In 2009, he pursued his orthodontic training at the University of Colorado. Upon successfully completing the program, Dr. Luu returned to the Lower Mainland and was proud to announce the opening of his new office, “First Impression Orthodontics” in North Burnaby as well as in Whitehorse, Yukon. In addition, Dr. Luu returned to his UBC part time clinical faculty position, teaching undergraduate orthodontics. Dr. Luu is honoured with contributing to organized orthodontics by previously serving on the Board of Directors and ultimately, President, of the British Columbia Society of Orthodontists (BCSO).

In his spare time, Dr. Luu enjoys spending time with his wife, Tracy, and two daughters Emma and Kaylee. With what ever time is left in the day, he enjoys playing hockey, tennis, and tinkering with all forms of electronics. In keeping with his fascination with gadgets, Dr. Luu also maintain his hobby with amateur photography.
