Clear Aligner Options in Burnaby: Angel, Spark, and FI Align

We offer three clear aligner options at our Burnaby office: Angel Aligner, Spark Clear Aligners, and FI Align. Patients often come in asking for a specific brand by name, and that’s a good place to start the conversation. Which one fits depends on how your teeth need to move, how much of your bite needs correcting, and how consistently you can wear aligners day to day, and we work that out with you at your consultation.

The three options at a glance

Option What it covers Made by
Angel Aligner Full treatment for crowding, spacing, and many bite concerns Angel Aligner
Spark Clear Aligners Full treatment for crowding, spacing, and many bite concerns Ormco
FI Align Limited treatment to align the front teeth Our own in-house program

Angel Aligner and Spark Clear Aligners

Both are full-treatment systems, which means they can address the bite as well as the alignment of your teeth. We plan each case from a digital scan, photos, X-rays, and digitally design the case to your specific needs. Every case is fully customized by Dr. Luu.

FI Align

FI Align is our in-house aligner program for patients who only need their front teeth aligned and whose bite doesn’t need correcting. Because it’s limited treatment, it isn’t the right fit for every case, and we’ll tell you at your consultation whether yours qualifies.

Invisalign

Our office doesn’t offer Invisalign. Instead, we prefer to use Angel Aligner, Spark Clear Aligners, and FI Align because we’re more comfortable with how these companies work with our office and our patients. If you’re comparing an Invisalign plan from another office, we’re happy to go through how the plans compare.

When braces may be the better fit

Aligners only move teeth while they’re in your mouth, so they depend on wearing them most of the day and switching trays on schedule. Some tooth movements are also more predictable with braces. We’ve had patients come in certain that aligners were their only option and choose braces after hearing the pros and cons for their case. We’ve also had patients told elsewhere that aligners wouldn’t work for them who went on to do well with aligners because they stayed consistent with wear. Our adult orthodontics page covers braces options for adults.

Aligners from an orthodontist and at-home aligner companies

At-home aligner companies work from a scan or impression you take yourself, with no in-person exam, X-rays, or regular appointments with an orthodontist. That can suit a narrow set of very mild cases. With us, an orthodontist reviews your records before treatment and sees you through regular appointments, so the plan can be adjusted if teeth aren’t moving the way they should.

Your consultation and investment

Your first appointment is a free 60-minute consultation with photos, X-rays, and a 3D Conebeam scan when it’s needed. We go through each realistic option for your case, braces included, with what each would involve and the investment for each. Aligners often carry a somewhat higher investment than braces, and we offer flexible payment plans with no interest.
